Hello,

MailCleaner was designed as community and collaborative anti-spam software. To be more precise, the MailCleaner core team maintains many databases in real-time to improve the spam detection.
When a user report us a spam, our goal is to fill in those databases such that all the MailCleaner worldwide can use this new spam information.

If you get messages that you think
- should have been stopped by MailCleaner but they were not, please report those to spam@mailcleaner.net
- should not have been stopped by MailCleaner but they were, please report those to nospam@mailcleaner.net
- should have been classified as newsletter but they were not, please report those to newsletter@mailcleaner.net
- should have been classified as phishing but they were not, please report those to phishing@mailcleaner.net
- should have been detected as virus but they were not, please report those to virus@mailcleaner.net

Please report messages by sending those as attachment so that we can consult the mail headers to have more informations about the given mail. This is important since if yu do not respect that step, the mail will not be taken into account.
Forwarding a mail as attachment :
Outlook 2013-2016: On the spam message, near the "Forward" Button, click on "More ▼", then click on "Forward as attachment".
Outlook 2007-2010: Click on the spam message, then in Home tab, click on the more button (subcategory Respond), then click on "Forward as attachment".
Thunderbird: Right click on the spam message, Forward format: Attachment.
Others: Try to find the "Forward as attachment" button, usually near the "Forward" button or by right clicking the message.

You wont get a dedicated analysis by doing so. This process is to straighten our filters. Those filters are automatically updated on your MailCleaner server.
You dont get dedicated analysis but the performance of our filter gets better thanks to our customers with this process. If you report those messages our filters will be more adapted to your traffic so this is also a direct gain for you.

Email reported to spam@mailcleaner.net are processed daily by an human assisted parser. One of the features is to detect the URLs used in the message to blacklist this. This is one of the most efficient way to counter phishing.
You may notice a delay before rules are propagated to your MailCleaner. After this process all MailCleaner will learn from those SPAM reported content and the filtering will evolve regularly.

Email reported to virus@mailcleaner.net are shared daily with our anti-virus partners.

You should encourage all your MailCleaner's users to forward email that they have recognized as SPAM to this email address.

Best regards,
MailCleaner Team
